ZAKEE’s main inspiration behind “Dope Girl” was to capture the classic feel of music legends like Janis Joplin and Bob Dylan, as well as the people he idolized as a child. “Like in most hoods, the coolest cats were the dope boys who walked with a crazy stroll, and the dope fiends who were so high, they didn’t know they were strolling,” says ZAKEE. The smooth thumping production for “Dope Girl” came from a collaboration with Drughorse, with ZAKEE laying down the drums and bass, while Drughorse accented the beat with guitar riffs.
